An employee shall be appointed to serve as Clerk to the Council. He/she shall attend every meeting of the Council and keep a full and accurate account of the proceedings of the Council. He/she shall keep such other records and perform such other duties as may be required by the Town's Charter or the Council. The Clerk to the Council shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Duties of the Clerk's Office
- Provide assistance and respond to the public inquires and request for information
- Provide support and assistance to the Mayor and Council
-Prepare and record minutes of Town Council work sessions, special meetings, and public hearings
-Assist the Board of Supervisors of Elections with all matters related to elections
- Publicize legal notices
-Archive resolutions, ordinances, and all official documents
-Arrange hall rentals, parking lot rentals, and schedule bulk trash pick ups
-Schedule appointments for the Call-Bus
-Assist the Police Department and Code Enforcement with collection of payments
