Vehicle releases are conducted in person at 6100 Jost Street Fairmount Heights, Maryland 20743. Please call (301) 925-8585 or (301) 883-9472. The owner or his or her representative is to bring in a valid photo ID along with proof of ownership of said vehicle. (i.e. driver's license, title, registration, bill of sale and / or insurance card. Note, if the owner selects to have a representative claim the vehicle a notarized letter from the owner must be submitted  giving the representative permission to claim the vehicle.

Note: Under Title 25-206 of Maryland Vehicle Law, Failure to reclaim the vehicle within three (3) weeks of prescribed notice shall be deemed a waiver by the owner or secured party of all rights, title and interest in the vehicle and content to the sale at public auction. 

The owner of the vehicle which has been impounded may request a SHOW CAUSE HEARING. A hearing must be requested in writing within twenty-one (21) days from the notice of impound. Obtain a hearing request form at 4920 Ritchie-Marlboro Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 / call Vehicle Audit Unit (301) 952-1873 Mon.-Fri. 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
