Prince George's County's First Passive House

5424 Addison Road
Fairmount Heights, Maryland

A passive house is a highly energy efficient house that uses only about 10% of the heating and cooling energy than that of a typical house built to code.

History
Fire  swept through the rambler style home that once sat at 5424 Addison Road in Fairmount Heights, Maryland. Three family members lost their lives in the blaze.  The burnt out house sat for nearly two years before it was purchased and demolished by Housing Initiative Partnership (HIP). Due to its tragic history, HIP wanted to create a new identity for the sited by developing an innovative and truly transformative project.
